Riyadh: International Membership Award Conferred on Daijiworld's P A Hameed

Riyadh, Feb 4: The International Bar Association (IBA) based in London, UK recently conferred the Award of Membership to journalist and advocate P A Hameed Padubidri, Daijiworld chief correspondent in Saudi Arabia. He is also entitled to join additional committee within the Public and Professional Interest Divison (PPID) in IBA.
In the category of Asia Pacific Forum, he has been chosen to the area of legal professional and world orgnizations. P A Hameed is a law graduate enrolled and admitted as an advocate on the roll of Karnataka State Bar Council under the provision of Section 22 of Indian Advocate Act, 1961. He had been practising as a full-time advocate representing clients in courts of law in the field of Contract and Commercial Law, Law of Conveyancing, Property Law, Negotiable Instrument Act, Civil as well as Criminal in Udupi Court in Karnataka.
He argued the case on bail application under the direction of Shantharam Shetty, his senior and a leading senior advocate in Udupi, on behalf of one Shobha, who was implicated as an accused in Naxalite activity in the incident that took place near Eadu, Karkala taluk in 2003, in which two were killed (named Hajima and another) in the police encounter. The case had grabbed state-wide attention, but on the prima-facie merit of the case, she was released on bail in the sessions court in Udupi.
Adv Hameed was born and brought up in Padubidri in Udupi taluk and he is the youngest son of the late Arabi Abdul Khadar and Ayshabi. He married Kamarunnisa Ibrahim Haji from Uchila in Udupi taluk, and has two sons Mohammed Raaef and Mohammed Aakef. One of his brothers, P A Mohiddin, has been serving the country as an officer in Border Security Force, New Delhi.
Adv Hameed graduated in BA and LLB in Mulky Vijaya College and SDM Law College, Mangalore respectively.
Hameed is the recipient of many local, regional, national and international awards and recognitions for his active dedication in the arena of literature, educational, social and humanitarian activities and services he rendered. He was conferred with the Karnataka State Best Youth Award for 1998 under the Youth Affairs Ministry, as an honour and recognition for his dedicated services in the social and humanitarian field. He was awarded with the Honorary Memberhsip of the International Biographical Center (IBC) Advisory Council, Cambridge-England for 2001 from Karnataka. As a recognition, the then governor of Karnataka Khurshid Alam Khan had nominated him as a Director of BOA (Board of Appointment) in 1999 in Mangalore University, one of the renowned universities in India.
In political arena too he was not a silent-spectator. He passed through various spheres of positions from block-level to the state-level position. He is a former member of Udupi taluk panchayat, elected with thumping majority of votes from Padubidri taluka panchayath constituency for a term of five years during 1995-2000 and was known being the youngest elected TP member in the state. He had been on the fore of Grama Vikas Program, literacy campaign, legal awareness camp, health care programme, self-employment scheme and other prolific activities, which were being implemented by the state and central governments.
He was a government nominated member of Udupi district minority commission chaired by the deputy commissioner, an executive body for looking after the grievances and welfare of the minorities namely, Muslims, Christians, Jains etc.
His hands have also been on the move in the area of literature an journalism, writing various articles and other pieces of literature to several newspapers, journals etc. Many of his poems have been published and aired in different newspapers, periodicals, radio and TV channels. Presently he is a correspondent for Daijiworld in Saudi Arabia, contributing various news coverage and write-ups on a variety of subjects.
He was recently qualified in the preliminary list of PhD (Doctorate in Commercial Law) in AUOL (American University of London). Since it is a costly affair, (i.e. fees around £4000.00, approximately IRS. 3,70,000-00 ), he kept it pending until he gets any interested person to come forward willingly to sponsor and reduce his burden for the cause. Currently, he is employed as a legal adviser in the contract department in a renowned electronics company in Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
