Mangalore, Feb 6: A three-day national conference on speech and hearing, hosted by Indian Speech and Hearing Association (ISHA), was held at TMA Pai Convention Centre, recently.
ISHA president Rupa Nagaraj inaugurated the conference. M Veerappa Moily, chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he assured that he would recommend the central government to set up a separate National Council for Speech and Hearing.
Meanwhile, Vijayalakshmi Basavaraj, outgoing president of ISHA handed over charge to new president, Rupa Nagarajan.
Prof K M Kaverappa, vice-chancellor of Mangalore University, Prof Rajashekharan Warrier, pro-chancellor of Manipal University, Dr Ramgopal, secretary of Dr MV Shetty Trust, N Vinay Hegde, chairman of Nitte Education Trust, MAPS president Dinesh Alva and others were present on this occasion.
Over 200 papers were presented by audiologists, speech pathologists and students during the conference.
