Mangalore: Terrorism Poses Challenge to Police - Additional DGP Guruprasad

Mangalore, Feb 6: The virus of terrorism has stepped in Karnataka. Moreover, the terrorists have targeted the police force in the state. Combating terrorism would be a challenging task for the police in the coming days, said Dr D V Guruprasad, additional Director General of Police (recruitment and training).
Speaking at the passing-out parade of policemen at police training grounds on Wednesday February 6 evening, he said that two police constables showed their intelligence in nabbing two terrorists in Honnali. Similarly, the police department is all equipped to deal with any terrorist activity in the state, he expressed confidence.
Syllabus for the police has been revised in 2007. Issues related to human rights have been added in the new syllabus. Police should respect human rights and pay due respect to women and children while dealing with their complaints, he urged.

A total of 104 police constables, including 85 from Railways and 19 from Mysore city, who completed their training in Mangalore Police Training School, participated in passing-out parade. Among them 2 were postgraduates, 51 were graduates in various disciplines. Meanwhile, Manjunath from Kundapur, Ningappa G from Belgaum, Rajendra Kumar and Vinay Kumar from Ramnagar, Neelappa Navali from Dharwad and Gopal from Mandya were honoured for the excellence in training.
Among them, Ningappa G is an army bachelor who served in army for 20 years. During his career with Indian Army, he had served in South Africa for one and half year. Furthermore, he can also read and write eight languages. Speaking to ‘Daijiworld,’ he said that he has also appeared for written exams for the post of sub-inspector. He is confident of passing that exam.
Satheesh Kumar, SP of Dakshina Kannada welcomed the gathering. Lokesh Kumar, principal of Police Training School, officiated the oath-taking ceremony. DySP D Dharmaiah proposed vote of thanks. Lynet Castelino compered the programme.
