Mangalore: Man Arrested for Smuggling Counterfeit Currency

Mangalore, Feb 7: The directorate of revenue intelligence has arrested Farooq (20) a resident of Korapady village in Bantwal taluk near here for trying to smuggle counterfeit currency worth Rs 14.97 lac recently.

According to police superintendent N Sathish Kumar, Farooq was nabbed by the DRI sleuths at Bajpe airport after he came back from Dubai. He said that Farooq had come with two bags in which he had hidden the counterfeit currency of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denominations hidden in the milk powder cases. 

After the preliminary inquiry DRI sleuths handed over the accused to jurisdictional police at Bajpe police station.
