Dubai: Kannada, Tulu, Hindi Golden Melodies to Charm Expats on May 2

Dubai, Feb 7: Come May 2 and Dubai will witness a musical evening with a difference - a musical nite featuring golden hits of Kannada, Tulu, Hindi and couple of songs from Konkani and Beary languages too.

About 10 professional artistes will fly all the way from Mangalore to entertain the music crazy UAE crowd with melodious numbers of yesteryears.

As a saying goes 'old is gold,' the organizers have planned to present only famous superhit songs of yesteryear from coastal Karnataka's languages.

While Kannada golden hits will dominate the show, superhits of Tulu and Mukesh/Kishore Kumar Hindi hits are also sure to capture the attention of the expats. Not to disappoint the Konkani and Beary language fans, there will be a couple of songs from the golden archives of Konkani and Bearys too.


About the Artistes:


Ravindra Prabhu

Ravindra Prabhu who runs the successful 'Raag Rang' musical troupe is known as the 'Golden Voice' of coastal Karnataka. The famed singer, who is a District Karnataka Rajyotsva awardee is a household name among the Kannadigas back home. He has performed in Kuwait and Bahrain, apart from thousands of shows in India and won the hearts of thousands of Kannadigas there. Ravindra Prabhu will lead the troupe along with other well-known artistes.


Anita Samson and Asha Maben

Anita Samson will be another crowd-puller at the show. A young trained classical singer who graduated in music from Sandesha Institution Mangalore, she is one of the finest voices that Mangalore has ever produced. She has rendered her voice to more than 200 audio albums , Kannada, Tulu and Konkani movies, apart from more than 1000 musical shows in India and abroad.


Abbas and Srikant Kamath

Abbas is an artiste with a difference who resembles Kannada film industry legend the late Dr Rajkumar, not only in looks but also in his voice. He is popularly known as 'Junior Dr Rajkumar' among the Kannada audience. Needless to say, he will render songs of the late Dr Rajkumar.

Srikant Kamath, is Mangalore's Kishore Kumar who loves to sing Kishore Kumar and Mukesh songs. Being a versatile singer he can render songs in any language be it Kannada, Hindi, Tulu or Konkani. His recent performance in Dirvem Wilfy Nite had mesmerized the audience.

Asha Maben nee Rego, also a trained classical singer, currently residing in Dubai has performed in hundreds of musical nites and rendered her voice to several audio albums. She appears in professional shows regularly despite her other professional commitments. She will be a part of the visiting Mangalore artistes' team.

Well-known musicians like Rajgopal and others will perform the orchestra.

The show is scheduled for May 2 at the Indian High School auditorium from 5 pm onwards.
