Mangalore: ‘Amma’ to Consecrate Idols during City Visit

Mangalore, Feb 7:
A huge religious procession of devout ceremoniously following a float carrying a monolith stone with the idols of various Hindu gods and goddess like Lord Shiva, Devi, Ganesha and Subrahmanya was taken out with great devotion through the streets of the city here on Wednesday February 6.  

The procession which originated from Kadri-Kumbla road winded its way through the famous Kadri temple, Mangaladevi temple, Sharavu Shree Maha Ganapathy temple, Shree Venkataramana temple, Kudroli Shree Gokarnanatheshwar temple, then passing through Urva Shree Mariyamma temple, finally winding-up at Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt in Sultan Battery in the city limits.  

All around devotees had gathered and were seen piously welcoming the procession by lighting camphor and incense sticks. The idols will be consecrated and installed by Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma), the famous 'Hugging Saint' during her visit to the city on February 18.
