Russian envoy Kadakin is dead


New Delhi, Jan 26 (IANS): The Russian ambassador to India, Alexander Kadakin, died here on Thursday, the Indian External Affairs Ministry said. He was 68.

"RIP Ambassador Alexander Kadakin," ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.

"In Kadakin, we lost a valued friend who nurtured India-Russia relationship for many decades as a distinguished Russian diplomat," Swarup said.

Kadakin was the Russian ambassador to India since 2009.
