Mangalore, Feb 14: Karnataka Forum for Dignity must be banned as it has been supporting terrorism, said Karkala former MLA Sunil Kumar.

Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD), which is active in the coastal districts, has close connections with the banned Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). KFD must be banned as it has been supporting terrorism, said Karkala former MLA Sunil Kumar.

Speaking at the mega protest against the spread of terrorism in the coastal region, organised by DK district BJP Yuva Morcha on Wednesday, he said terrorism has not been dealt with effectively and hence the State may turn out to be another Kashmir within a few years. It has come to light that accused Asif and Mohammed Ghouse were providing training in some places.

Since the last 10 years, terrorist activities were taking place in the State. It has come to light that the Udupi Krishna Mutt, Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant and many other mutts in various parts of the district were proposed targets of terrorists on January 26, 2008. However, except BJP, no other party has raised its voice against terrorism. BJP will organise Delhi Chalo protest next month demanding capital punishment to Afzal Guru, the accused in Parliament attack, he added.

Former MLA N Yogish Bhat said 3,675 people were killed in the country due to terrorist attacks. Those who finance terrorist organisations like Lashker-e-Toiba must be identified and punished. Many illegal immigrants from Pakistan as well as Bangladesh are posing a threat to the security of the country. Criticising the withdrawal of POTA, he said if people do not wake up at this stage, Karnataka will soon become another Kashmir.

Former minister B Nagaraj Shetty said leaders from the region including MP Janardhan Poojary and Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman M Veerappa Moily have not raised their voice against terrorism.

Artiste Kumble Sundar Rao said Hindus have forgotten to be vigilant and responsible.

Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner demanding a ban on KFD, conducting re-investigation of Hawala and fake note cases, constituting an anti-terrorism squad in the coastal district and giving protection to religious centres.

Divergent views are floating around as to which organisation is terrorist or not. But some tend forget the virtues(?) of terrorists or the organisations supporting them. To fit into such category questiions like whether they have bombs and RDX at their disposal, whether they have suicide sqauds among their cadres, whether they dont mind killing innocent citizens including women and children who are in no way connected to any 'ism's ,whether they start a troublesome act or respond to one, whether they are comfortable planting explosives in their own places of worship against their brethern, whether their loyalty is to this land or not - if we try to find answers to these questions one may come to proper conclusions.

I believe the saffronized wing of political parties are spreading wrong impression about Muslims and muslim organization. As far as my study, forum for dignity is a human right organization to stand behind the suppressed ones. We should not forget that RSS is the first organization banned in India. One of its following sister organization "BJP", is taking care of political issues to spread hatred towards muslim and finance from public money to hindu fundamental organization like Bajrang Dal,Ram Sena etc to terrorize public and keep the show going.

Bottom line is to make money and enjoy power. With all this politics the majority of Indians are in trouble.

I agree that Bajarang dal/Hindu Sene are trouble makers. However, it's important to draw the distinction here. There is a difference between 'trouble makers' vs 'anti-national'. Groups like SIMI have actively engaged in anti-national activities targeting national assets such as Kaiga power plant and bombings. Let's not lose sight of this before it gets too late for our 'peaceful' Mangalore.

This is a joke. A leader of an organisation that has been involved in one of the worst crimes against humanity in recent times, asks for a ban on KFD, an organisation that has conducted itself in rather exemplary fashion in recent times. I guess the Sangh Parivar cannot digest an organisation that talks of the rights of minorities and the underpriviliged, not matter how peacfully they conduct themselves. Contrast this with the record of the MLA, who until recently headed the Bajrang Dal!

I don't think BJP has any moral right to justify protest against KFD while fostering its own radical right wing parties such as Bajrang dal. Vajpayee himself admitted Bajrang dal is bane to the party but nobody cares about its presence.

Isn't what Bajrang dal commits constitutes an act of "terror" ? Is their attack/vandalism on churches justified ? Has it got any place in the civilised world ? I admit they must have got their own reasons (religious conversions, cow slaughter etc.) but is such kind of despicable move permissible ? Does it really uphold what they are supposedly standing up for ? Isn't it hypocritical ? Where's the moral compass pointing at ?

BJP can set an example here. Repudiate Bajrang dal and then come to the table. Practice before precept.

Fundamental rights ensured by Indian Constitution Article 19 that all citizens shall have the right (a) to freedom of speech and expression (b) to assemble peaceably and without arms (c) to form associations or unions. BJP has lost moral justification to demand for ban KFD, where BJP’s pattern organization RSS and other right wing radical parties had questioned the authenticity of Indian constitution.

As Congress president Sonia Gandhi charged the BJP preaching the name of Mahatma Gandhi while actually practicing the ideology of his assassin, Nathuram Godse.

It s all political gimmicks! It is an attempt to ban the organization as a reaction to increasing fame of the organization. "From a number of sources, it has been determined that (KFD) seeks to limit or rescind basic and human rights, such as the right to develop one's personality and the right to be treated equally," . We in  South Canara, call ourselves as “Intellectuals” then why we need organizations like mushrooms, which is run by political parties?.
