Mangalore: Countdown Begins to Welcome 'Hugging Saint' Amma

Mangalore, Feb 14: Countdown has begun to welcome 'Hugging Saint' Sri Matha Amruthanandamayi, popularly known as ‘Amma.’ She will be in the city from Sunday February 17 to Tuesday February 19.
Amma will be inaugurating the newly-built ‘Brahmasthana’ near Amrutha Vidyalaya at Boloor. The ‘Brahmasthsana’ has been built within 5 months at a total cost of Rs 70 lac. The idols of Parvati, Shiva and Rahu have been carved in a single stone in this Brahmasthana. Devotees irrespective of their caste and religion can offer puja here, sources informed.
Tokens:
Those who want to meet Amma personally are expected to take the tokens from the organizers which are available without any cost. This has been done to avoid chaos among the devotees who flock to have glimpse of Amma and want to receive a hug of love and affection from her.
Meanwhile, the organizers will arrange transport facilities from Nehru Maidan to the Ashram, for the devotees who come from far away places. The parking arrangements for cars will be made at Mijar Govinda Pai Cashew Factory, located near Boloor, Urva Market, Gandhi Nagar cross roads, Matadakani road and for two-wheelers at Nava Durga Garage, which is located near Sultan Battery.
Head-load offerings will be taken on procession from Nehru Maidan to the Ashram on Friday February 15 and free food, medical and ambulance service will be available on all the three days, sources added.
