Mangalore, Feb 14: The Temple Square at Car Street was painted with rainbow colours as thousands of devotees celebrated the Okuli habba which is being annually celebrated as part of the famed Kodial theru.

This day which is also known as Avabhratotsava saw people, young and old, boys and girls sprinkling colours and playing holi. Devotees dancing to the tunes of popular numbers being played by DJ were in jubilant mood as deity was carried on a palanquin.

The five-day event of the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin community is a commemoration of the divine union of Lord Venkataramana and Goddess Padmavathi. The idol will be taken round in ceremonious procession around the city before being immersed at a lake near Srinivas School. The car festival will conclude after placing the idol of temple deity in the sanctum sanctorum.

There is a small Mistake in your Article which reads"The idol will be taken round in ceremonious procession around the city before being immersed at a lake near Srinivas School"..The idols are not Immersed but only Bathed and then Taken back to the Sanctum Sanctorum...None the less the Pics of the Okkul are Superb...Good Job Daiji World
