Mangaluru: Illegal sand transportation - four trucks seized

Mangaluru, Feb 1: Police personnel of Bajpe station took into possession four trucks which were found to be illegally carrying sand from Addur, Gurpur, and Ulaibettu docks on Tuesday January 31. They have also registered cases against the owners and drivers of these trucks.

The policemen had been sounded about sand being transported from the banks of Gurpur and Falguni rivers at Muloor village. Inspector of the station, T D Nagraj, and sub-inspectors, M P Satish and Rajaram, led the raiding teams. Three separate teams simultaneously conducted raids at the three spots mentioned above.

During the raids, the police personnel found that four trucks loaded with sand were trying to  take the sand away. At the time of the raid, the drivers of these trucks ran away. All the four trucks along with stock of sand were taken into possession, and cases were filed in Bajpe police station, police personnel stated.
