New Delhi: Tuluvas Relive Traditional Games through Bale Gobbuga Pili-Petta

New Delhi, Feb 18: They were people playing like small children without much bothering about anyone and anything else. Their age had nothing to do with their spirit. All were lost in the memory of their childhood. The Delhi Higher Secondary Kannada School square observed the enthusiasm of Tuluvas in reliving their traditional games with amuse.

It was the large gathering of Tuluvas, which had gathered there for reliving their traditional games of Tulu Nadu in the capital city. This energizing day out had been organized by ‘Tulu Nadu Development Forum, New Delhi’.

The programme was titled ‘Bale Gobbuga Pili-Petta,’ one of the traditional games of Tuluvas. It was inaugurated in a traditional manner by Netravathi Mayya and Shankar Shetty by dashing two coconuts against each other (traditionally called as Tharai Kuttunu). There were lot many other traditional games of Tulu Nadu like 'Lagori', 'Kutti Donne', 'Muttata' etc. 

All Tuluvas who are residing in capital city participated in the event. This attempt by Tuluvites living in Delhi to promote and preserve the traditional Tulu Nadu culture and games is indeed praiseworthy.
