Kundapur, Feb 8: A fisherman who was fishing from his country boat lost his balance when a huge wave hit his boat. He fell into the sea and lost his life. This incident happened near Koderi of Kirimanjeshwar village in the taluk at around 6.30 pm on Monday February 6.

In this incident, Lokesh (34), son of Ramakrishna from Chowkimane, Koderi in Kirimanjeshwar village, lost his life. He used to undertake fishing on his country boat named 'Grama Devate' since about a year. He went fishing at around 7 am on Monday, and drowned in the evening after he lost balance while fishing from the seashore. Fishermen in other nearby boats rushed to his rescue. They brought him out, and admitted him into the government hospital at Kundapur. But the doctors informed that he had already breathed his last.

A case of unnatural death stands registered at Byndoor police station relating to this tragedy.

Taluk panchayat member, Mahendra Poojary, Kirimanjeshwar gram panchayat members and hundreds of other locals gathered for his funeral on Tuesday and paid their last respects. Local fishermen had taken off to take part in the funeral.
