Bengaluru, Feb 9: Congress legislators from the state have urged chief minister (CM), Siddaramaiah, and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president and home minister, G Parameshwar, to stop veteran leaders like H Vishwanath, Jaffer Sharief and Janardhana Poojary, who have often launched open tirade against the party and its leaders, and creating discomfiture for them.
At the parliamentary party meeting held here on Wednesday February 8, Narendra, who represents Hanur constituency, raised the topic. He pointed out that leaders like Poojary, Vishwanath and C K Jaffer Sharief have been taking the party and its government in the state to task repeatedly in hostile language. He said that these developments have been creating embarrassment for the party and its cadres. His demand to stop these leaders from making derisive comments about party and its leaders received all-round support at the meeting.
It is gathered that both the CM and KPCC president promised to raise this point at the coordination committee meeting and arrive at a suitable decision.

Sources revealed that the legislators at the meeting minced no words in condemning social welfare minister, H Anjaneya, for his failure to provide power connection to borewells dug under the ambitious 'Gangakalyana' scheme of the government. They said that the department had permitted these farmers to rig borewells but once they are dug, they are lying unutilized because of the inertia of the department, they stated.
At the meeting, the CM said that with effect from April this year, every BPL family in the state will get eight kg of rice instead of five kg permitted now. The CM expressed resentment at the large scale absence of legislators at the legislative sessions. He wanted all the ministers to be present in the house without exception, and instructed the legislators to attend the sessions, and show unity in facing verbal attack of the opposition.
Speaking after the meeting concluded, KPCC working president, Dinesh Gundu Rao, said that the meeting decided to act against the above three leaders and that the party's central committee would be asked to serve show cause notices to Janardhana Poojary, C K Jaffer Sharief, and H Vishwanath and take further steps as may be necessary thereafter.
