Mangalore, Feb 29: Regular physical exercise definitely helps one to a great extent in reducing stress and averts adverse consequences of stress, said Dr A Prabhakara Rao, consultant physician.

He was delivering a lecture on the topic 'Stress Management' organised by Mangalore Management Association in association with SDM College of Business Management at the conference hall of SDM College of Business Management here on Thursday February 28.

The adverse impact of stress may range from mere migraine, diabetes to cancer and hence one should be careful in managing one's health. It is also feared that in the near future stress may become the second major cause of death, he cautioned.

Detailing how one can effectively manage stress he said that a leisurely walk may not be effective in averting adverse implications of stress but brisk walk is more useful. Being over-ambitious is a contributing factor of stress, he added.

Bank employees and other over-worked professionals must take rest on weekends and if possible should stay away from the workplace, he suggested.

Dr Devraj K, principal pf SDM College of Business Management presided over the function.

TG Shenoy, vice president of Mangalore Management Association and others were present on the occasion.
