Sonepat sisters' case: All 3 Rohtak boys discharged by court

Rohtak, Mar 4 (Tribune): A local court on Friday discharged the three Rohtak boys accused of molesting two sisters of Sonepat district on board a moving bus in November, 2014.

The Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Harish Goyal acquitted the boys – Kuldeep, Mohit and Deepak – as no charges were made out against them after the arguments from both sides were heard.

Welcoming the judgment, the boys’ counsel, Pardeep Malik, maintained that they were now considering filing a defamation case against the girls.

However, the girls’ lawyer, Attar Singh Panwar, said they would challenge the judgment in the High Court.

Pooja and Aarti, two sisters of Thana Khurd village in Sonepat district, had thrashed the three boys of Aasan village in Rohtak district on board a moving bus, alleging that they had molested them.

They also lodged a police complaint, following which the boys were arrested.

The boys, however, maintained that they had not molested the girls and the real issue was getting a seat vacated for an elderly woman, which triggered an altercation.

The boys were later released on bail.

An SIT was constituted to investigate the matter. A number of eyewitnesses came forward with their statements, and all of them supported the version of the boys.

The charge-sheet submitted before a local court in this regard indicated that none of the 40-odd witnesses in the case had supported the version of the sisters.

Moreover, the polygraph tests of the complainants as well as the accused also indicated that the sisters were concealing some information, while the accused boys had come out clean in the test.
