Mamata condemns killings in US


Kolkata, March 5 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday condemned the killing of two Indians in the US and urged New Delhi to take up the matter with Washington.

"Two more shocking killings of Indians in the US. GOI (Government of India) must take this up with the US government on an urgent basis," she tweeted.

On Thursday night, Indian-origin businessman Harnish Patel was shot dead outside his home at Lancaster in South Carolina.

The incident happened after Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot dead at a bar in Kansas on February 22.
