Why Prajapati still in cabinet?: UP Guv asks CM Akhilesh

Lucknow, Mar 5 (PTI): Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today shot a letter to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, seeking clarification on whether he "justifies" it to "retain" the tainted minister Gayatri Prajapati in his cabinet.

"A non-bailable warrant has been issued against Prajapati after an FIR was registered against him in rape case. Serious question of constitutional morality and dignity arise on his remaining in the cabinet", Governor said in a letter to CM seeking his "justification on retaining the minister".

Naik said that as per media reports, a look out notice has been issued against Prajapati fearing that he might flee from the country and his passport has also been impounded. "This is serious in nature with Prapatati being a cabinet minister", he added.

He said, it has also come to his notice that CM himself has asked the minister to surrender but he has not done so till now and is absconding. There are apprehensions that he might have fled to some foreign country, he said. The police is searching for the minister and trying to arrest him, the governor said in his letter.

Yesterday, the passport of Prajapati, who is a senior UP government minister was impounded and a look-out notice was issued against him, hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused SP-Congress of chanting "Gayatri Prajapati Mantra".

On the directives of the Supreme Court, UP Police has filed an FIR against Prajapati, a senior SP leader, in connection with separate cases of gangrape and attempt to rape another woman and her minor daughter.

Very correct. Should be removed as Minister. I appreciate Governor and PM's statements.
But why did PM Modi induct Nihal Chand Meghwal, who was rape accused in 2011, given ticket and inducted as Minister in 2014 and was not dropped till July 2016?

BJP party president Amit Shah was arrested on 25 July 2010 in connection with the Sohrabuddin case. He was charged with the murder, extortion and kidnapping among other charges.

Shah was thus forcibly exiled from the state from 2010 to 2012.Why does party promoted him to president instead of sacking?

In 2014 Lok Sabha winning candidates list party-wise, the largest 98 or 35 percent of the 281 winners from the BJP have in their affidavits declared criminal cases against themselves.

The release said that of the 186 new members with declared criminal cases, 112 (21 percent) declared "serious criminal cases", including those related to murder, attempt to murder, causing communal disharmony, kidnapping, crimes against women etc.

A minister on moral grounds has to resign & not on whims & fancies of political governor is the norm.
Let the election process end & then see which government comes into existence & then air your political viewpoints Mr Governor.
Allegations not proven in court of law are not binding on Chief Minister to take any action suo moto.
