Mangaluru, Mar 7: St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT), St Aloysius College, Beeri, hosted ‘Sanjeevini’, a voluntary blood donation camp in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society on Tuesday March 7.
The program began with a prayer service by the college choir and was followed by a video presentation on the awareness of blood donation. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. Vikram Shetty, professor and Unit Chief at K S Hegde Medical Academy, Mangalore.
The welcome address was given by Ms. Ronica D’Silva followed by the key note address by the chief guest.
Dr Vikram shetty spoke on the importance of donating blood and the other criteria that are to be kept in mind. He also advised on contributing our time towards charity. He congratulated the organizers for organizing an event like this which had a noble cause behind it and wished good fortune to all participants and donors.
Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, Director, AIMIT, in his presidential remarks encouraged students to donate blood. He also said that all of us have the same blood irrespective of colour, class, caste and religion and hence we need to consider each one as brother and sister and not divide people based on these categories. He ended saying “GIVE BLOOD, SAVE LIVES”.
Dr Rowena Wright – Dean Academics MBA department, Beena Daiz – Faculty coordinator Sanjeevini, Ronica D’ Silva & Elston Madtha, Student coordinators Sanjeevini were the other dignitaries that were present for the inaugural.
The vote of thanks was given by Mr. Elston Madtha on this occasion.
Sanjeevini started in the year 2006 has been a success till date. The aim of this camp is to inculcate community work and social responsibility among students. Blood Donation favors growth and hope and it is to be remembered that one need not have to be a doctor to save lives. The public was also invited to donate blood and be a part of Sanjeevini 2017.
