Light snowfall in Srinagar


Srinagar, Mar 10 (IANS): Fresh snowfall occurred in Srinagar and some other parts of the Kashmir Valley on Friday, the Met department said.

"Srinagar city recorded 0.1 cm of snow while Gulmarg had 38 cm, Pahalgam 4 cm, Kokarnag 1.5 cm and Qazigund 0.5 cm," a department official told IANS.

"Higher reaches received heavy snowfall."

Wet weather is likely to continue in the state for the next two days.

The minimum temperature recorded in Srinagar minus 0.1. Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded minus 0.6 and minus 5.0 degrees Celsius respectively.

Leh town recorded a minus 6.8 while Kargil had minus 5.2.

Jammu recorded 10.3, Katra 7.6, Batote minus 0.3, Bannihal 0.7 and Bhaderwah minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, the official added.
