M’lore: MRPL Donates Equipment to Lady Goschen Hospital

Mangalore, Mar 4: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) donated medical equipment worth Rs 11.5 lac to Lady Goschen hospital, exclusively to treat gynaecology and obstetrics cases in the city, on Tuesday March 4 evening.

S S Hegde, senior general manager (HR) of MRPL, Santhosh Kumar Kadri, assistant general manager (personnel and HR) handed over the equipment to Dr G Y Kamath, in-charge medical superintendent of Lady Goschen hospital on this occasion.

Equipment donated by MRPL include foetal dropper, foetal monitor, pulse oxi meter with adult and neonatal probe, multi-parameter monitor with adult and neonatal probe, operation table (hydraulic), labour cot with mattress, suction apparatus (electrically operated), spot light, mobile shadowless lamp for operation theatre, he added.

Meanwhile, S S Hegde said that kitchen facility at the hospitals lies in dire need of refurbishment, and MRPL would certainly extend financial assistance in executing this work, he assured.

MRPL has reserved Rs 3.5 crore to fulfill its corporate social responsibility. Moreover, a plea was made to the higher authorities to increase the funds to Rs 4.5 crore for the same purpose in the financial year 2008 – 09.  Charity works like scholarship to the students, repairing Thumbe vented dam, donating pediatric endoscope unit for the paediatric unit in Wenlock Hospital and many more works will be undertaken in the coming financial year, he said.

Y D Salian, manager at MRPL, Lexmi Kumaran, assistant general manager (corporate communications), Shreesha M Karmaran, community development officer and Dr Geethanjali of Lady Goschen hospital were present on this occasion.
