New Indian envoy arrives in Kathmandu


Kathmandu, Mar 25 (IANS): Newly appointed Indian ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri arrived here on Saturday.

India on March 11 appointed Puri as its 24th envoy to Nepal as his predecessor Ranjit Rae completed his term on February 28, The Himalayan Times reported.

Puri is scheduled to submit his letters of credence to President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday.

Before being assigned to the Kathmandu mission, he was Indian ambassador to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Born in 1959, Puri had joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1982.

Prior to Brussels, he was India's ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN from 2009 to 2013.
