Kabul rejects Pakistan's claim of India's 'destructive' role

Islamabad, April 10 (IANS): Afghanistan has dismissed as "baseless" Pakistani claims that India played a "destructive role" in Kabul.

According to Afghan Defence Ministry spokesman General Dawlat Waziri, New Delhi had no military presence in Afghanistan, The News International reported.

Waziri on Sunday said Islamabad felt India was fuelling anti-Pakistan feelings with its presence in Afghanistan.

He said India was only providing training and study opportunities to the Afghan Army.

The remarks followed Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif's charge that the strained relations between Islamabad and Kabul were due to the Indian influence in Afghanistan.

India has played a major role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban regime and has invested over $2 billion in various reconstruction and infrastructure projects.
