Newly married woman murders husband for not being handsome

Cuddalore, Apr 11 (PTI): A newly married woman allegedly murdered her husband by smashing his head with a grinding stone, upset that he was not handsome, police said today.

The 22-year old woman, who got married about a week ago, attacked her husband fatally last night in their house here following a quarrel.

Police said the woman started hating her husband, a wood sculptor in his mid 20s, because her friends and relatives said he was not handsome and not a match for her.

Though the woman came out and cried saying someone has murdered her husband, police after investigations arrested her today on the charge of killing him.

She was produced before a local court which remanded her to judicial custody.

    Has she not seen her husband before marriage? If not no problem. She could have go to the court and divorce the husband and get married with a handsome man. But why to kill???

    These incidents are rare and I feel sad for the man who killed. Social stereotypes are not always dangerous, but here it proved that such things will harm human life. Naturally, it's not important for a man to be good looking, rather a good personality and personal hygiene make him a worthy man. In the above incident, the brides relatives and friends might have mocked her husband for looking ugly(sic) which caused her to feel very insecure and with overload of emotions she hit her husband. I hope that people put aside those movie stereotypes where it shows good looking actors in order to attract the viewers. Thanks to daiji for accepting my comments.
