Video of youth tied to army jeep evokes anger in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 14 (IANS): A video of a youth tied to the front of a moving army jeep as a shield to avoid stone pelting has evoked anger and shock among Kashmiris, including former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

"This young man was TIED to the front of an army jeep to make sure no stones were thrown at the jeep? This is just so shocking!," Omar tweeted.

With internet services restored in Kashmir Valley on Thursday night after Sunday's deadly violence that led to the death of eight civilians in firing by security forces, many videos have emerged on social media sites on Friday.

Commenting on the video, Wasim Dar, a Kashmiri youth, posted on Twitter: "A boy killed from point blank range and another boy tied to the army jeep. What to do after seeing these videos."

Another Twitter handle said the army's actions were "dehumanising a whole population to cultivate total submission".

"The strategy, that has recoiled back, spectacularly," ProjectKashmir tweeted.

However, some twitter users defended the army's act and said it helped to avoid the stone pelting.

"Find a pelter, tie him up, let his pelter brothers scratch their heads. What's not to love? Should've thought of this since beginning," said a tweet from "FrustratedIndian".

@Langoo,Belman,Washington. your blood boils when your hear about throwing stones to soldiers, but my blood boils when I see and hear how these soldiers treat a human being as if he is a animal.why dont they tie their own companion ?One doesnt pelt stones simply so.when they shoot and eight people died, people will not keep quite. It is humiliating to tie a person and drive.Disguesting about their action.

    Dear Indian Army,

Next time when terrorists attacks and stone pelting starts please do not fire. Instead call Rita from Germany. According to her !! She has better ideas to control jihadi stone pelters who have made her proud by insulting CRPF Jawans.

She will teach you on how to tackle with terrorists and stone pelters .

The only way to fully integrate Kashmir with the rest of India is to give access to Indians from all over the country to come and live there , own land , start business, build temples , churches , as long as you give special status to such people they will consider themselves outsiders .

This will further alienate Kashmiris against India further complicating the peace process.
Prior to PM Modi government Kashmir has seen slow return of tourism. After the devastating floods and 'bullet policy' Kashmir has pushed to anarchy.
Former RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav and present state incharge with internal security advisor Ajit doval who has messed Kandahar hostage crisis releasing most wanted terrorists has only complicated the matter.
It seems all bullets are reserved for Kashmiri approach is only making the young Kashmir youths against the states. At the same time Haryana Jat agitation which left more than 30 deaths and Rs 35500 crores losses to business is approached with red policy. In Jallikattu where anti India slogans and placards has been displayed the Modis central government bypassed SC verdict and overturn the animal abuse in favor of Tamil aspirations. White dove approach also with Patel community in Modi's home state.
Unless PM Modi's don't take the advice of senior leaders like MM Joshi, India will be pushed to corner in UN. Shotguns which made most blinded in recent protest as already gave the India bad name human right violations.
If PM Modi's government reserves bullet policy for Kashmiris, India will lose Kashmiris, which in turn will give advantage to China in the north and Pakistan in the west. In north India excluding Bhutan and Bangladesh India has no good relations with its neighbours.

When China's business reaching west coast in Gwadar port with chinese naval presence , this Kashmir policy of guns of India will isolate the government and long time interest.

    Jai Hind
