No school holidays on birth, death anniversaries of great personalities: Yogi

Lucknow, Apr 14 (DHNS): In a significant decision, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that schools would not be closed on the birth and death anniversaries of great personalities.

Speaking at a function on the occasion of 126th birth anniversary of dalit ideologue B.R.Ambedkar here, Adityanath said that the schools should organise programs based on the lives and works of the great personalities rather than be closed.

''Such programs will enable the children to know and understand about those great people...it will help them become good citizens'', he said.

He said that his government would stop the tradition of declaring holidays in the schools on the birth and death anniversaries of great personalities. The decision is certain to trigger huge controversy as it may be opposed by some quarters.

UP currently has 44 public holidays that include 15 holidays for birth and death anniversaries of religious, political and social personalities.

Government offices and schools remain closed on the birth anniversaries of Bhagwan Mahavir, Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, Guru Nanak Dev, Maharana Pratap, former prime ministers Chandrashekhar and Charan Singh, Maharshi Kashyap, Nishadraj, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti , Hazrat Ali, Parashuram and saint Valmiki.

Surprised by your comment, seeing that you are in Brighton and say that Yogi has to learn from Europe. UK has only 8 public hokidays and UP has 44 days holidays,(not taking into account school closures for strikes, riots etc ) which is just not comparable.... Europian countries do not grant additional holidays unless its an exceptional cause... Not sure what you are trying to prove. We should be positively critical on a case by case basis and not based on individual personality.. By the way I am not a fan of Yogi for that matter....

DID U FORGET THAT THURSDAY IS HALF DAY. SATURDAY AND SUNDAYS ARE HOLIDAYS TOO.

52+52+26 = 130 HOLIDAYS PER YEAR. THEN EXTRA CHRISTMAS BOXING DAY AND OTHER HOLIDAYS TOO.

    @ EMI, Brighton,
May I ask why are you so critical of Yogi and Modiji? Do you have any personal enmity against them? What’s wrong in Mr. Yogi canceling unnecessary holidays? Do have holidays in UK for birth or death anniversary of every king, queen and PM?

It may look like or projected like he is doing somwthing great but It is Nothing but implemeting the concept of hindu rashtra. In which Dharma samsath will be governing council of nation , everyone else's festivals , important days will be wiped of and only kings ( Ruler of hindu rashtra) will be followed as per manusmruti.

Gandhi jayanthi will be forgoten, and hence a new hindu rashtra will be formed.

No holidays must be allowed for any birth or death anniversaries or any religious holidays. Government must allow 10 days leave for all their staff and they must take these 10 days whenever they want. No encashment must be allowed against these 10 days.... School children also get this facility i.e. add with their annual holidays. I have seen when I visited October/November I found most of the days our Banks are closed..... . No reservation must be allowed and admit the students on merit basis.

    Dear Raj Mangalore,
Jesus was in heaven prior to His earthly mission.

While Jesus was on this earth He said: John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

While on earth Jesus spoke to heavenly Father directly from earth to heaven,

John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

JESUS WAS BOTH A MAN AND DIVINE ON THIS EARTH BORN MIRACULOUSLY. (WITHOUT A HUMAN INTERVENTION)

JESUS ALSO USED TO PRAY TO GOD.

WHILE DYING ON CROSS. HE USED TO SAY YA ELAHI. EVEN MUSLIMS TOO CALL ALLAH AS YA ELAAHI.

Jesus has to pray to God the Father because:

Jesus was both a man and divine while He was on this earth.

Muhammad was Unknown to Allah in the Quran.

Why the name of God Eli or Eloh was changed to Allah.

The name of Allah was not existed Prior to 500 BC.
Arabic was invented in the 1st century.

Why Allah and his angels prayed to Muhammad???!!!

    See Below:

They are those on whom are the prayers (salawatun) from their Lord and mercy (rahmatun), and it is they who are the guided-ones. S. 2:157

He it is who prays (yusallee) for you and His angels too, to bring you forth out of the darkness into the light, for He is merciful to the believers. S. 33:43 Palmer

Verily, God and His angels pray (yusalloona) for the prophet. O ye who believe! pray for him (salloo) and salute him with a salutation! S. 33:56 Palmer

Elahi or Eloi is the Hebrew word for God while Allah is the Arabic word. Hebrew and Aramaic were the languages spoken in ME when Lord Jesus walked on this earth. Arabic came into existence a century later.

Don't be disheartened Jossey Bhai. Christianity becomes even stronger when it is put to test. Our Christianity has undergone terrific trails, tortures and even may have died for this religion. Finally, those who stand strong in their faith during the trials, emerge triumphant. Saviour of the world our Jesus Christ is the living witness of it. Wish you a divinely blessed Easter, a symbol of triumph and glory over evil.

Dont support Yogi's ideology, however this is fantastic decision... infact this should be applied to all over India and total number of public holidays should be limited to under 10 days per year.... better for a healthy economy...
