Mangalore, Mar 20: City customs officers have seized a parcel on Wednesday March 19, which was sent by a consignee from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that contained counterfeit Indian currency worth Rs 2 lac, concealed in part of parcel while the sleuths have arrested certain Mayyadi and Shabbir, residents of Polali Addur, in the extended suburbs of city. 

The parcel which was arrived from Dubai, had fake address on it, but surprisingly the contact number mentioned was in use. On receiving sure tip-off, the official arrived on the spot and arrested the accused, the sources added.

Sources added that the counterfeit currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations were detected as the parcel was opened. The counterfeit currencies were wrapped between carbon sheets, with the assumption that it would go undetected during x-ray screening.
