Mumbai, Mar 23: Native Tuluva Mumbaikars’ should uphold the tradition of homeland, as they were practicing since the past in metro. Their women have earnest duty to teach the traditions to their children on daily basis. They should not shun the traditional practices of homeland at any cost. The parents should be alert in encouraging their children to take up folklore arts, such as classical music and dance when they come under western influence. Bunts community, hailing from Tulu Nadu settled in the suburban Thane are indeed striving in this regard which has brought immense pleasure to convey to natives in Mangalore, said renowned litterateur Yerya Narayan Alva.
He was delivering the inaugural address, during the third annual day celebration of Thane Bunts Association which was held recently at Ram Ganesh Gadkari auditorium, Thane.
Entrepreneur Heranje Gundu Shetty was the guest of honour, present at the occasion.
Popular Thane hotelier and social worker Uday S Shetty, businessman Surendra V Shetty were felicitated at the same occasion.
Yerya Laxminarayan Alva was felicitated by Gundu Shetty by draping the shawl and presented with flower bouquet.
‘Shambhavi Vijaya’ yakshagana play was held as part of entertainment programmes by the child artistes directed by Thane Bunts Association president Prof Balakrishna Shetty.
