Kuwait: Boubyan Strikers clinched fourth Blessen George Memorial Volleyball title

Kuwait, May 16: Boubyan Strikers volleyball team defeated ACME (3-1) in the most scintillating final match held at Al Shabab Sports Club Ahmedi.

King of Volley defeated ABR in the loser’s final (3-0) and clinched the third position in the tournament. King of volley player Abdul Rehman Al Otaibi was adjudged best player of the tournament, Ukkrapandian captain of Boubyan Striker was selected best setter of the tournament and Anup D’Costa of Boubyan Striker’s adjudged Man of the Match.

As expected Mangalurean boys Anup D’Costa and Aswal Rai contributed a major role in winning the title. It was a maiden title for Boubyan Strikers led by manager Madhu Ravindran and coach Noel Cutinha.

The finals were attended by the dignitaries of Kuwait Volleyball Federation president Waleed Aman, secretary general Abdullah Kayed, chairman of Al Shabab Sports Club Yacoub Rehman and organisers higher committe chairman Oomen George and secretary Chessil Cherian. This three day mega event was witnessed by a large number of volleyball fans from Indian and Arab communities.

Presence of Indian National Volleyball players in both the teams Boubyan and ACME and King of Volley team represented by Kuwait National team players added charm to the tournament and feast for the Volleyball fans.
