Mangalore, Apr 2: The Rural Development and Self-employment Training Institute (RUDSETI) will hold around 500 employment-oriented training programmes for the unemployed youth, said RUDSETI governning council member Parthasarathy.
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday April 1, he said that RUDSETI has trained more than two lac people since 1982. During the last fiscal year, the insitute trained 16,059 unemployed people out of which 47 percent were women. Out of these, 3,830 were trained in agriculture and 3,275 in small and micro industries, he informed.
As many as 12,000 trained individuals have already started their own enterprise. During 2007-2008, several banks offered their support to 7,311 entreprenuers with loans worth Rs 30.69 crore. On the whole, the institute has managed to secure a loan of Rs 263.77 crore for 67,000 candidates, Parthasarathy added.
Apart from training programmes, the RUDSETI also organized six growth programmes and 10 skill development programmes for 364 entreprenuers. Of the 23 centres of the institute all over the country, the central government has released Rs 3.65 crore for developing infrastuctures of the centres in Jaipur, Agra, Bhuvaneshwar, Bhopal and Ananthpur, he said.
