Panaji, Apr 2: Under pressure on the credibility of the police investigation, the Goa government on Wednesday formally decided to seek a CBI probe into the death of British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling.
"The state government has given its nod for the transfer of the case to the CBI. All the formalities in this regard will be completed in the next couple of days," a senior police officer told reporters.
Earlier, the state government had expressed its willingness to hand over the case to CBI, but had not taken the final stand on the issue.
"It is decided now. Previously it was just willingness to transfer," the officer said.
Scarlett, a 15-year-old British national, was found dead on Goa's popular Anjuna beach on February 18.

Thu, Apr 03 2008Scarlett the sad murder that took place in Goa is not only a tragedy for the poor mother of Scarlett, but let me go forward the investigation in the case has become a venom of wrong message to the fun loving people of Goa and not the least a blow to Indian tourism.
Anyone who visits Goa will not come once but make it a destination forever, the reason it's beauty is not seen anywhere else in India. Coming to the sad murder and untimely death the system itself is to be blamed, the Big Fight that took place about 10 days back carried by Barkha Dutt of NDTV was an excellent event with all involved, but at that show our so called people of power at the venue tried to hide their heads in shame, by not admitting the fact that the very basic negligence was in the system, why blame the FARANGI, you only need their money not their safety in your country as ambassadors?
If the prime suspect Placido Carvalho is the main accused this trial should not take more then 15 days by our so called corridors of Justice, Hang him so that the faithful tourist in Goa can never be scared that India is not a safe heaven, let there not be another Placido in the making to down run this beautiful country and my holiday destination GOA.
