FIR against army officer for tying Kashmiri youth to jeep not quashed

Srinagar, May 23 (IANS): The FIR lodged against an army major for using a Kashmiri youth as a human shield against stone pelters has not been quashed and the investigations will continue, a police officer said on Tuesday.

Muneer Khan, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir zone said: "The FIR stands and investigations into the case will continue."

An army major tied a youth to the front of a jeep to avoid attacks by stone pelters in central Kashmir's Budgam district on April 9.

After widespread condemnations, the police filed an FIR against the major for his action.

However, the major had been awarded a Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) commendation card for the "good work" he has been doing.
