Mangalore, Apr 4: Politicians hailing from the state have failed to protect the interests of the state, lamented Prabhakar Joshi.

He was addressing the gathering at a public meet, convened by DK Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat to discuss means and methods to counter the injustice meted out against the Kannadigas from other states, held at the Hotel Woodlands here on Thursday April 3.

Requesting media persons to invite scholarly articles on inter-state controversies which could have evidential value, Joshi added that no controversy can be sorted without the general public being fully informed. Hence media should educate the general public regarding sensitive issues.

It is painful that the political parties use controversies as vote bank tools. But henceforth nothing of that sort would happen. The fruits of such protests must be ascribed to the Kannadigas, Hanumanth Kamat, a social activist said.

Intensifying his allegations against the political parties, the social activist added that political leaders and political figures are most welcome provided they have no hidden agendas such as political gains.

It is better that political leaders are consulted. The interest of the people living in neighbouring states must be considered while following violent means to express our concern and airing grievances in the state, Anantha Rama Roa, writer, said in his response to what could be the appropriate means to protest injustices meted out against the Kannadigas.
