Mangalore, Apr 4: Lourdes Central School (LCS) organized kindergarten convocation ceremony here on Friday April 4.

Usha Rao, principal of Presidency School was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, she explained the importance of good parenting and the need for raising healthy and happy children.

She was of the opinion that positive feedback is important in developing self-confidence among childern. Parents should listen to the problems of children and must be affectionate to them, she added.

Emphasizing the need for developing mutual understanding, Usha Rao requested the parents to never give up hope of maintaining strong and healthy relationship with the growing minds. 

Certificates were conferred on kindergarten students on the occasion. Parents and students shared their experiences.

Lydia D`Souza, coordinator, delivered the welcome address and Grace Noronha, principal of the school read out the annual report.

Vivita D`Souza compered the function.

    What is the significance of having a convocation ceremony at this stage of education? Innocent children are made to look like jokers in the convocation outfit !Can we not stop following blindly the western culture and try to bring up our own values and culture in these type of ceremonies (if at all required)?
