New Delhi, May 31 (Hindustan Times) : A 23-year-old woman was shot dead by an unidentified man at Shatabdi Rail Vihar, a residential society in Sector 62 of Noida, on Wednesday morning. She worked as a trainee engineer with mobile manufacturing company Lava in Sector 64.
Police said Anjali Rathour, hailing from Jagadhri near Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, was shot in the head at 6.34am. The CCTV camera installed near the elevators captured the scene, but the man has not been identified yet, police said. Rathour was identified when her roommate Jyoti was leaving for her coaching classes and saw people gathered on the ground floor.
She started inquiring from the residents and saw Rathour lying unconscious on the ground, bleeding profusely. She went to their third-floor apartment and alerted four other roommates about the incident. They managed to take Anjali to nearby Fortis hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Her family and relatives were informed about the incident. They reached Noida in afternoon and the body was sent for a postmortem examination.
A case of murder has been registered at the Sector 58 police station and investigations have begun.
Rathour was working with Lava as a trainee engineer for the last one year and was supposed to be promoted in June. She graduated from Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar in 2016 and was placed in Lava from the campus last June.
Her family members have alleged that she was killed by a friend, who hails from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh. He had studied with her at the university and Rathour’s phone records showed a call from him.
