Bengal CM condemns Philippines casino attack

Kolkata, Jun 2 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday condemned the attack at a casino in the Philippines carried out by a lone gunman who fired shots and set fire to gambling tables.

"Innocent lives are being lost every day. Disturbing and sad trend. My condolences to the families grieving in the Philippines," Banerjee said on Twitter.

Thirty-six bodies were found inside a casino in the Resorts World Manila casino and hotel after it was attacked by the gunman in the early hours of Friday.

However, the victims did not appear to have been shot but were thought to have died of suffocation, according to Philippines police.
