Not hurt by comparison with General Dyer, says Army chief

New Delhi, June 8 (IANS): He may have been compared with the notorious General Dyer of Jallianwala Bagh infamy, but Army Chief General Bipin Rawat is unfazed by the description.

"See, I am an Army officer, just anything cannot affect me. You have to be prepared to face such.... People can misinterpret (comments made by him)," General Rawat told IANS in an interaction.

He was asked about academician Partha Chatterjee comparing him with General Dyer, who ordered firing at a crowd of protesters at Jallianwala Bagh of Amritsar on April 13, 1919, in which 379 people were killed.

"There is no need to react... It should not bother me," the General said.

Asked if he was not hurt by the comparison, he said: "Not at all".

He added that people should be left to judge.

"People are the best judges; majority's decision will be right," he said.

With pakistan trying to make us look bad in kashmir and tying the hands of our army, kashmir will be out of control. On top of it, our own people calling our general names is unpatriotic.

This disgraceful episode is happening only now during BJP rule. Bipin is hand picked by BJP, rest one can get the idea what special qualities BJP saw in him. Gen Bipin please uphold the dignity of the army. Don't get involved with your master BJP dirty politics. Please look after the soldiers well and provide them good quality food by utilizing all funds allocated for army food ration.
Never happened this type of military involvement in 70 years.

What is the connection of BASF Soldier's' complain regarding getting stale or bad food at the Boarder and Gen. Bipin Rawat called infamous British General Dyer ??
When Congress was in Power we were also getting bad food, how ever no one complained. Beauty is that now the younger generation complains, hence it is not wise to bring in Politics.
Now the question is that why academician Partha Chatterjee called him Gen. Dyer ?
Because he wants Army personnel to sing a song when militants stone them to death !!!!!????!!!!

That is exactly the issue now. inspite of army getting bad quality food during congress rule still military officers weren't compared to some tyrant of British era or martyrs families weren't sending 56" blouses to PM or soldiers weren't openly complaining about bad quality food etc etc. This says soldiers are trying to say something here. It's common sense. It's better for army to keep away from day today cheap and dirty politics of BJP and maintain its dignity. It is very disheartening to see people are treating army this way after BJP came to power. This should stop.
