Bring back and punish Dawood, say kin of Mumbai blast victims

Mumbai, Jun 17 (PTI): "Justice will prevail only when Dawood Ibrahim is brought back to the country and punished."

This was how the relatives of some the victims of the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts reacted to the conviction of six persons accused in the case by a TADA court here today.

Some them chose to term the verdict as "half victory" as the delivery of justice was inordinately delayed.

The six convicted by the the special TADA court, in the second leg of the trial, include the blasts mastermind Mustafa Dossa and extradited gangster Abu Salem.

Kamla Malkani, a Worli resident who was hurt in the blast at Century Bazaar, said she was not too enthused by the verdict.

"I fail to understand why so much money is being spent on these culprits at the expense of taxpayers. Full and final justice will prevail when the key mastermind Dawood Ibrahim faces trial in India and gets punishment," she said.

Tushar Priti Deshmukh, who lost his mother in the blast at Century Bazaar, shared the feeling.

"Justice will prevail when the mastermind Dawood gets punishment," Tushar said.

"Today's verdict is obviously very late as it has come after 24 years... but it is positive. It will, however, reach to a logical conclusion when and only when Dawood faces the music for his misdeeds," he said.

Kirti Ajmera, a former stockbroker who still has a cracked ribcage and glass shards in his body, said the judgement was a step in the right direction.

The glass shards from the bomb blast near the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) pierced through Ajmera's face, arms and broke his ribcage. He has undergone 40 operations.

Naresh Saraf, who lost his right leg in the blasts, felt that justice had been delayed. "Though I have full faith in our judiciary, it is a fact that justice has been delayed. It would have been good had the verdict come within two to three years of the blasts."

Naresh, who runs a public call booth in suburban Malad, said: "Only the verdict has come so far. I want capital punishment for the accused. They don't deserve any sort of mercy."

The unprecedented attacks on March 12, 1993 had left 257 people dead, 713 seriously injured and destroyed properties worth Rs 27 crore.

A series of 12 bomb explosions took place one after another in about a span of two hours.

The blasts occurred at Bombay Stock Exchange, Katha Bazaar, Lucky petrol pump near Sena Bhavan, opposite Passport office near Century Bazaar, Fishermen's colony at Mahim Causeway, the basement of the Air India Building, Zaveri Bazaar, Hotel Sea Rock, Plaza Theatre, Centaur Hotel (Juhu), Sahar Airport (Bay no.54) and Centaur Hotel (near airport).

Do not think Govt. is not able to do it. This will be the first manifestation point in their next general election campaign in 2019 as usual. If they build Ram Mandir and bring back black money and Dawood then on what basis they will fight next election ?

Before hanging Dawood also hang those behind babri riots and destruction have any of them being prosecuted under our judicial system ...
We have great judicial system .I.e why those behind some of the worst riots are leading our nation,Maya kodnani, babu bajarangi are on bail..Advani is enjoying his retired life,Aseemananda and sadhvi are repeatedly getting clean chit..whereas yakub ,afzal are jailed and hanged ...Our Judicial system always shielded crime of particular type in that sense we are no different from other third world and African nations(may be now they are having even greater Judicial system than us)

I don't care about the black money, but Dawood need to be punished for all his wrong doing and all those involved in carrying this blast and hiding some where else.
However, unfortunately that will never happen, there are still some influential people under the payroll of D Gang. This is really a high time for all and Center should do something to bring the Culprits back to India and punish them or at least kill them where they are.
