Two killed in Kanpur hospital blaze


Kanpur, Jul 20 (IANS): Two persons were killed in a fire that broke out in a private hospital here on Thursday, police said.

More than a dozen others have sustained serious burn injuries in the blaze at the hospital in Tulsinagar.

The two victims were medical students who were preparing for exams, according to an initial police probe.

The cause of the blaze was a minor fire in a car parked in the hospital's basement. It soon engulfed the entire building.

There were no fire prevention or extinguishing systems in place in the building, the police added.
