M'lore: Final Day - 45 Candidates File Nominations in District

Mangalore Apr 30: On the last day of filing nominations for the second phase of assembly elections on May 16 a total of 45 candidates filed their papers in the eight constituencies of Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday April 29.

In Beltangady, Vasant Bangera (Congress), Raghu Dharmasen (BSP), K Gangadhara Gowda (JDS), Mahesh Shetty Thimarody (independent) filed nomination papers.

In Moodbidri constituency K P Jagadish Adhikari (BJP), Steven Vincent D'Souza (independent) and K Amarnath Shetty (JDS) filed nominations. In Mangalore North Supreeth Kumar Poojari (JDU), S V Amin (JDS), Mumtaz Ali (Congress), M K Haneef, Anand Gatti (Independent), Shashikala M (BSP) and B A Moideen Bava (Congress) filed their nominations.

In Mangalore, Harish Alva (JDU), J Mohammed (independent), Victor D'Souza (independent) filed nominations.

In Bantwal constituency, B Ramanath Rai (Congress), Thungappa Bangera (BJP), K M Ibrahim (JDS), Aminabi Sheikh (independent), Mohammed G (JDS), Ramanath Pai (Independent), Norbert Blasie Rodrigues (JDS) and Dolphy Prasanth D'Souza (independent) filed their papers.

In Puttur constiuency , Dr M K Prasad (BJP), M S Prasad (BSP), Jeevan Bhandary (Congress), Nalini Lokappa Gowda (Congress/independent - two seats), Jagadish Shetty Nellikatte (independent), K H Ashraf Kallega (independent), Abdul  Aziz Busra(Independent), Bondala Jaganath Shetty (Congress) and Abdul Rahiman (independent) while in Sullia, B Raghu (Congress), Sharthchandra (JDS), Ramesh M (BSP) and Gokuldas (Congress) filed their nominations.

The nomination papers will be scrutinised on Wednesday April 30. Friday May 2 is the last day for withdrawal of the nominations.
