Kabul, Jul 21 (IANS): A teacher was shot dead by two masked gunmen in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, the latest in a string of targeted killing in the militancy-hit country, an official said on Friday.
"Sahab-ul-Haq was shot dead in a mosque in Chaparhar district on Thursday night when he was offering night prayers," Xinhua news agency quoted the official as saying.
The 50-year-old was serving in a girl high school in Nangarhar, 120 km east of Kabul, for years, a statement said.
People considered to be supporting the government, religious leaders, tribal elders and persons involved in peace and reconciliation efforts have came under attack in the past years.
