Mangalore, May 1: Two persons come to your house and ask change for Rs 1000 and say that they need it for offering money to a temple or church. They also tell you that they are going to open a jewellery shop close to your house during Akshaya Tritiya.

Secondly, they ask you to bless the currency by touching Mangalasutra onto that currency. That’s all… you never come to know what happens next. But that person flees the spot with all your gold ornaments.

A total of four such incidents were reported in the city on Thursday, May 1. Even the police are unable to describe what technique these thieves are using.

Both the men are young and smart looking. They come to the house with a two wheeler. One person enters the house and begins his trick. Another person waits outside the house for his arrival and both of them escape with huge amounts of money or jewel once the victim is 'hypnotized'.

All the four incidents reported in the city occurred in such places where the density of population density is substancial. Moreover, all these incidents occurred during the day.

A certain Sulochana Bhat residing near Attavar Chakrapani temple lost 12 sovereigns gold in the same manner. Meanwhile, similar incidents have been reported from Barke police station limits and Bejai where the parties lost 18 sovereigns and 13 sovereigns of gold respectively.

As reported earlier, daylight theft of Rs 1.35 lac occurred at Urva parish office on Thursday May 1 morning, which is also suspected to have happened in a similar manner.
