Kasargod, May 2: The nation-wide bundh called by BJP in protest against the union government's failure to reign in the prices of essential commodities received good response in Kasargod and other parts of Kerala.
The bundh was total with state buses, auto rickshaws and other forms of public transport not plying the roads. Though the admnistration had offered security to the buses, none of the bus owners took the offer. Only a few private vehicles were seen plying.
However, sources said that the bandh was not forcefully imposed. The recent incidents of violence that had shaken the town had a big role to play in making the bandh successful. People did not want to take chances by keeping their shops and businesses open, sources said.
So far, the situation is calm and no untoward incidents have been reported.
