Bantwal, May 2: 'All those political parties that have reigned India in the past six decades since independence have not worked for the welfare of labour classes and have instead worked for the capitalists. Therefore, in order to have a voice in the national politics, all the labour classes should work collectively to enable the victory of CPI candidates, who would strive for securing basic rights of workers and enact pro-labour laws,' said P Sanjeev, CPI district secretary.

He was addressing the gathering at May Day celebrations organized by All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC)  at Baddakatte here on Thursday May 1.

Western influence across the nation has exceeded all limits while the vested interests are working on snatching the poor peasants' land holdings in the guise of Special Economic Zones (SEZ), with a view to dispose off the same to capitalists, he alleged.

CPI district president B Vishwanth Nayak presided over the programme.

CPI candidate lawyer Satish Kumar Bantwal, district president V Kukyan, leaders Praveen Kumar, B Shekar, D Henry Lobo, K Tharanath, B Bhaskar, Umavathy, Rathi S Bhandary, Babu Bhandary and others were present at the occasion.

Suresh Kumar welcomed the gathering and proposed the vote of thanks.
