Puttur Shyamaraya Shetty Killed in Tragic Accident near Belgaum

Mumbai, May 5: Veteran social worker of Udupi origin, Puttur Shyamaraya Shetty was killed in a tragic road crash at Chittoor near Belgaum on Sunday May 4. He was on his way to Udupi when a speeding KSRTC bus rammed into his car at Chittoor.

He was traveling to his native along with his wife, brother P Dhananjay Shetty and the car driver. While Shyamaraya Shetty was killed on the spot following serious injuries in his head, his wife, brother Dhananjay Shetty and the car driver have been admitted to a hospital in Chittoor.

Belgaum-based Mangalorean Santoor Bhaskar Shetty arrived at the accident spot and managed to take them to the hospital soon after he received the news. 

Shyamaraya was active member of Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti and philanthropist popularly known in the metro.

All the office-bearers of Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti including founder president Thonse Jayakrishna A Shetty, Vishwanath U Mada, Belgaum's veteran hotelier Raghuram Shetty and others have condoled the sudden and tragic death of Shyamaraya Shetty.
