M'lore: Three Inter-state Thieves Arrested - Gold, Silver Seized

Mangalore, May 12: Dakshina Kannada district police arrested three inter-state thieves and took into custody gold and silver worth Rs 1 lac here on Sunday May 11.

The culprits have been identified as Chandra (55) a resident of Velipalayam at Nagapattanam taluk in Tamil Nadu and hailing from Kerala, Abdul Hameed (41) of Talapady in Pilikur, Illyas (31) a resident of K C Road in Talapady. 

The regional police arrested these culprits near Bajal cross when they were loitering suspiciously. On questioning they admitted that they had burgled the house of Venkatesh Bhat on January 2007. The police took into custody gold, silver and other things.  

According to the police Chandra (55) has been involved in 31 thefts in Tamil Nadu and Kerala and he punished for the crime. Abdul Hameed (41) was involved in the murder of Selvam, a resident of Tamil Nadu and was punished. He was also involved in many thefts in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The police team included SP special squad inspector Jayanth V Shetty, SP special squad SI Prakash, SIS Narayana Maniyani, head constables Sitaram, Anand, police constables Chandrashekar, Rama Poojary, David D’Souza, Shaju K Nair, Sunil Kumar, Rajendra Prasad, Mohammed Iqbal and Girish.
