Chandigarh, Aug 9 (IANS): Lying on paper is bad. Five teachers in Haryana learnt this the hard way after the government transferred them to Mewat, a backward district in south Haryana, for providing wrong information under the transfer policy.

The transfer was ordered by the education department upon learning that the five took undue advantage of the transfer policy by feeding false information on the Management Information System (MIS) portal, a senior official said on Wednesday.

"While taking stern action against the teachers who have given wrong information on the MIS Portal under the Teacher Transfer Policy and taken undue benefit in the transfer process, the Haryana School Education Department has transferred five teachers to Mewat on administrative grounds," Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, P.K. Das, said.

"Apart from this, disciplinary action under Rule-8 has also been initiated against them and their approving authorities."

The education department had asked teachers to provide information regarding their postings and also sought their choice of stations for new postings.

The department had said that effort would be made to adjust teachers in their home districts or nearby areas.

Das said: "The 'Teacher Transfer Policy' casts an inviolable duty on every teacher to fill the accurate details on the MIS portal and a corresponding duty on every approving authority to verify such details and then approve the same.

"A teacher is liable for disciplinary action as well as being posted out of the current school of posting on administrative ground if such teacher has given wrong information on the MIS portal to take undue benefit in the transfer process."
