Six injured as bus ploughs into London shop

London, Aug 10 (IANS): At least six people were injured on Thursday when a bus ploughed into a shop on a busy high street in London, the media reported.

Images on social media showed the double-decker bus wedged into the side of Poggen Pohl Kitchen Design Centre after mounting the pavement on Lavender Hill, Clapham, reports the Guardian.

A section of the shop's awning appeared to have pierced the front windows on the bus's upper deck.

A Metropolitan police spokesman said: "Police were called at 6.55 a.m. to reports of a bus in collision with a building.

"Officers, the fire brigade and ambulance services are in attendance.

"The driver has been taken to a south London hospital. A number of passengers were treated at the scene. Two passengers remain trapped on the upper deck. The road is currently closed to traffic."
