Mangalore: Nightingale Fest–2008 held at FMCI

Mangalore, May 12: A week-long programme was held at Father Muller Charitable Institutions by the nursing service and education department on behalf of Florence Nightingale Birthday, the founder of nursing profession.  The inauguration of the event took place on Monday May 5 at the hospital campus.  Dr Sanjeev Rai, dean of Father Muller Medical College inaugurated the week celebrations; Sr Jacintha D’Souza released the theme of the year, 2008 “Delivering Quality, serving communities Nurses leading Primary Health Care”.  Fr Partick Rodrigues, delivered the presidential address and the nursing superintend Sr Aileen Mathias thanked the gathering.

Various competitions including sports were held for the staff, faculty and students.  The finale of the programme was held on Monday May 12 at the Academy Hall. 

The first year PG students of nursing presented a tablo, role play and panel discussion on the theme.  Dr Sulochana, an eldest and more vibrant scholar and activist in nursing was the chief guest for the formal programme.  The annual magazine Mullerspring was released on the occasion.

Sr Jacintha D’Souza, principal, college of nursing welcomed and Sr Flora D’Souza, principal school of nursing thanked the gathering.  The colour-filled event came to end with a banquet.
