Byndoor: Ghastly Road Accident Claims Six Lives

Kundapur, May 19: Six persons were killed on the spot and four were injured when a car collided with a lorry on National Highway 17 at Kirimanjeshwara village near Byndoor in Udupi district on Sunday.

According to the Byndoor police, the lorry was proceeding from Kundapur to Bhatkal, while the car was going from Honnavar to Dharmasthala, when they collided near Nagur Masjid in Kirimanjeshwara. The remaining four occupants of the car, who were injured, have been shifted to the Chinmaya Hospital in Kundapur.






The deceased have been identified as Savithri (32), Subraya (35), Reshma (13), Mahadeva Naik (55), Raghavendra (14), and the driver of the car, Govinda Gowda (30). The four injured are Yogish, Shankara, Ravi and Lakshmi.

All the occupants of the car were residents of Jalavalli village near Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district. They were on a pilgrimage to Dharmasthala.

A case has been registered.
